The Art Collections of the City of Nuremberg serve entirely as collections for research, and consequently have no exhibition spaces of their own. But to give the public access to these rich holdings, the institution regularly organizes exhibitions on specific themes at one of the Nuremberg Municipal Museums, most notably at Albrecht Dürer's House and the City Museum.

Significant works from the Art Collections are on permanent view at some of the city's museums. Particularly memorable items can be found at the City Museum (such as Joachim von Sandrart's "Peace Banquet") and the Tucher Mansion Museum.

Many works are also on extended loan to many other museums.
