The trial run begins

After more than five years of renovation, the entire Documentation Center will open its doors once again on 22 May 2026. With the start of the trial run, visitors will have unrestricted access to the new permanent exhibition "Nuremberg and the Nazi Party Rallies". The official opening will take place on 4 November 2026 – the 25th anniversary of the Documentation Center's opening.

Why a trial run?

The trial run will enable us to further optimise the new permanent exhibition under real conditions. The elements to be tested and further developed include the media points, the visitor guidance systems, inclusivity and the new educational programme. The aim is to provide an exhibition experience for all visitors that is as accessible, intuitive and technically reliable as possible.

Inclusion, media and outreach

Inclusivity is a particularly important aspect of the exhibition: during the trial period, additional material in the form of audio descriptions, simple language and sign language will be added to the media guide and evaluated by the focus groups.

Interactive points such as "My choice", where visitors can contribute their own perspectives on topics such as democracy and moral courage, will be tested live and expanded. Parallel to this, new outreach and educational programmes will be developed and tested together with educational partners.

No restrictions on visits

The public will enjoy unrestricted access when visiting the new permanent exhibition. All exhibition areas will be open to visitors, as will the café.
